How to restore SharePoint to another farm

The scenario we will use is that we have a web application and we need to attach another Database to it

First copy the database the two files of the content

MDF and LDF files of the content

Copy them to the new farm

In addition, it will be better to disable the web application server

Then right click the databases and right click attach

Then add the MDF file

Then it will be attached with the following name

rollbackSnapshotTempGUID

SharePoint Application Proxy Group

Proxy group

is the relationship between web application and the service application connection (Proxy) or connection for a service application

It enables the web application to associate with just the application services needed

EX: my site web application doesn’t need to be associated with all service applications

By default, there is only one Application Proxy Group

Go to central admin

Then

Application Management

Manage web application

Then service connection  

 

 

To create new application Proxy Group

New-SPServiceApplicationProxyGroup -Name “new name of your proxy group”

In my case I will create one for the Project server only

New-SPServiceApplicationProxyGroup –Name MSproj_Group

Now assign service application connection (Proxy) to the Proxy group

Use the following command to get list of Proxies

You need the ID of the required servie

Get-SPServiceApplicationProxy | FT -AutoSize -Property ID, DIs*


Add-SPServiceApplicationProxyGroupMember <Proxygroupname> -Member <ID>

Alternatively, you can run the following command to get list of all services with project name

Get-SPServiceApplicationProxy | where { $_.Name -like “*projec*” }



 


Now its connected

OneDrive for Business retention and deletion

Their OneDrive for Business will be preserved for 30 days. You’re the temporary owner of all documents saved to their OneDrive for Business.

Reason

When a OneDrive for Business site collection is scheduled for deletion, the default action is to transfer ownership of the site to the manager of the original work account or school account that is being deleted. For this to occur, the user profile Manager Property must be set for the original owner of the OneDrive for Business site. For more go to OneDrive retention

For this to occur, the user profile Manager Property and Access Delegation need to be set for the deleted user before deleting it. To do that, as a global admin or SharePoint admin, please follow the steps below: 
1. Go to the SharePoint admin center
2. Click User profiles > People > Manage User Profiles > Find the user account to deleted > Edit my profile > Manager > type the manager account into the box > Save and Close

Then Edit my profile

Azure AD Connect sync: Prevent accidental deletes

This topic describes the prevent accidental deletes (preventing accidental deletions) feature in Azure AD Connect.

f this was unexpected, then investigate and take corrective actions. To see which objects are about to be deleted, do the following:

  1. Start Synchronization Service from the Start Menu.
  2. Go to Connectors.
  3. Select the Connector with type Azure Active Directory.
  4. Under Actions to the right, select Search Connector Space.
  5. In the pop-up under Scope, select Disconnected Since and pick a time in the past. Click Search. This page provides a view of all objects about to be deleted. By clicking each item, you can get additional information about the object. You can also click Column Setting to add additional attributes to be visible in the grid.

    The following command:

    First run the following command just to make sure

Get-ADSyncExportDeletionThreshold | FT

Then disable it

Disable-ADSyncExportDeletionThreshold

Project server installation

Project Server 2016 runs as a service application under SharePoint Server 2016. It is included as part of the SharePoint Server 2016 Enterprise installation, though it is licensed separately

Project Server 2016 requires a license in order to operate, and you must enable Project Server 2016 by using your license key before you can create a Project Web App site.

(If you are not sure if Project Server 2016 has already been enabled, use the Get-ProjectServerLicense cmdlet to check.)

To activate Project Server 2016

First make sure that it’s not enabled

Open the SharePoint admin shell

Make sure to run as admin
